Family Worship
Family worship is vital to us. We treasure our church families and the vivacious children who enrich our programs—designed with families in mind.
Much of our congregation is comprised of second-, third- and even fourth-generation families. Annual mother-daughter and father-son banquets are held, as is the yearly Harvest Home festival.
Focus
on the Five Practices
Radical Hospitality
Passionate Worship
Intentional Faith Development
Risk-Taking Mission and Service
Extravagant Generosity
These are the Five Practices of vital, fruitful congregations.
These ideas aren’t secret or new, but they are the practices that can lead to excellence and growth in the life of our church. And they are the practices we will be focusing on for five consecutive weeks, beginning October 10th and ending November 5th.
This initiative is designed to stimulate conversation and commitment about the mission of the church throughout the entire congregation, helping people understand the “why” of church life which is the source of real motivation and passion for ministry.
Ministries
Our
small congregation is extremely active. We have four children/youth
Sunday school classes and an adult class. An active and jubilant
children’s church is presented each Sunday. Musical worship opportunities
include soloists and special instrumental music. We
also hold special occasion services throughout the year.
Small Groups
Bible Study
The Bible Study group is open to anyone who wishes to dig deeper into God's Word.
Women
Missionary
women
The women's group holds monthly meetings in members’ homes and at the church. The group is heavily involved in ministries to the elderly, missions and children. Various fundraisers and dues allow them to contribute to missions at home and abroad, as well as within the local community.
Youth
Senior high and junior high youth meet for special events such as Christmas caroling, roller skating parties and bowling.
The youth undertake mission projects throughout the community and abroad. Whether raising funds for the less fortunate, donating time and labor for the elderly and needy, or planning a mission trip, the youth at Herrington are active, inspired and living for God.
